Upper Eye Lid Surgery (Upper Blepharoplasty)

Upper Eyelid Surgery (Upper Blepharoplasty)

At Innersense Aesthetics Medical, Upper Eyelid Surgery (Upper Blepharoplasty) is performed by our Consultant Plastic Surgeon Mr Philip Lim in our CQC registered clinic.

As we age, the skin naturally loses elasticity and the muscles around the eyes weaken. This can cause the upper eye lids to appear heavy, droopy, or over hanging. In some cases, it may even obstruct vision.

Benefits of Upper Eyelid Surgery

This procedure removes excess skin and improves the contour of the upper eyelids, helping to:

  • Create a fresher, more youthful appearance
  • Open up the eye area for a less tired look
  • Improve symmetry and definition around the eyes
  • Make eye makeup application easier
  • Restore clearer vision where eyelids have been obstructive
Who is it for?

Upper Blepharolasty is suitable for both men and woman who wish to address drooping or sagging upper eyelids for either cosmetic or functional reasons

What to Expect

Your journey begins with a thorough face to face consultation with Mr Philip Lim. He will assess your eyelids, discuss your concerns and expectations, and confirm if surgery is suitable for you. You will be given a cooling off period of a minimum of 14 days between your consultation and your surgery if you wish to go ahead.

Procedure

The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic where excess skin (and in some cases, a small amount of muscle or fat) is carefully removed. The procedure takes around 1-2 hours.

Recovery
  • It is very important to rest and follow the aftercare given following surgery.
  • Mild swelling and bruising are normal for the first 1-2 weeks.
  • Most patients return to normal daily activities within 7-10 days.
  • A wound check and any stitches (if required) are typically removed by one of or nurses after 5-7 days.
  • Moderate exercise can commence after 3 weeks with swimming and more strenuous exercise starting between 6-12 weeks.
  • Final results are seen once swelling settles.
Frequently Asked Questions

Will I have scars?

The incision is made in the natural crease of the upper eyelid, meaning any scar is discreet and usually fades very well over time.

How long do the results last?

Results are long-lasting. While the natural ageing process continues, most patients enjoy the benefits for many years.

When can I wear eye makeup again?

Light eye makeup can usually be applied once the area has healed, typically after 3 weeks.
