What does it involve?After a medical consultation with Nurse Lee, you will be asked to sit on the bed, the effected areas cleansed & images taken. Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution directly into the vein that feeds the spider veins. The sclerotherapy solution causes the vein to scar, forcing blood to reroute through healthier veins. The collapsed vein is reabsorbed into local tissue and eventually fades. Sclerotherapy is often used for cosmetic reasons as and have very few risks although temporary side effectscan arise such as bruising & redness. Treatment time 45-60 minutes.

After you will be asked to wear compression stockings for 3-4 days following treatment & are vital to treatment success, aid in shrinkage of the treated veins, improveblood circulation and lessen the risk of blood clots to the legs. Avoid strenuous exercise such as running and leg weight training for 2-3 days after treatment.yet 15-20 minutes of walking daily is recommended. Wear your compression stockings during activity if possible. Avoid soaking in hot baths for 1 week aftertreatment. Showers are fine starting the day after treatment. Avoid sun exposure and wear SPF 30 sunscreen.

After sclerotherapy, treated veins tend to fade within a few weeks, although occasionally it may take a month or more to see the full results. In some instances, several sclerotherapy treatments may be needed.
